We are Zayne & Rachie, a couple who is on an adventure exploring vegetarian and keto eating lifestyle.
Keto diet or low carb meal has received a lot of attention in the recent year with the focus of weight loss. However, we started this amazing journey not looking for another temporary diet plan or diet challenge to lose weight. We are looking for a change in our eating habits, our lifestyle by adopting a simple vegetarian ketogenic diet to have a long-term healthier body for us and our family & friends.

Why keto, or why vegetarian keto?

Looking few years back, we were fully focusing on our eCommerce business. We worked day and night, managing teams and building more businesses. Our health was definitely not our priority in life.

And something happen that totally changed our life direction...

Our dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. A deadly cancer that ends his life in just a short span of time. Following on, our mum suffers stroke that affects her speech and movement. This makes us wonder – what is really the most important thing in our life?

So we started searching for an answer…

During our research, we discovered how changing the quality of one lifestyle can be so impactful. And the most effective way is to start with our intake of food.

Yes diet, that’s the answer we found.

We read up numerous types of diet and ketogenic diet caught our attention. The concept of altering the primary source of fuel for the body and start burning fats for energy is what interest us. Several studies have also reveal number of potential benefits it can bring to our health, so we began the pathway of strict restriction in carbs and sugar in our daily meal.

The result?

The result of keto diet is amazing! We see tremendous health improvement – more energy, lower glucose level in blood, and of cause reducing visceral fats within the body. Not only our body is healthier, our mum who started the diet with us was also showing great improvement on her health check result!

And recent years, we decided to adopt vegetarian diet as a form to protect life of this world.

This is a new challenge to us as traditional keto require more meat intake for fats and protein, and integrating plant-based food to replace meat is something we need to explore.

The research we’ve done shows that vegetarian tend to consume high amount of carbohydrates as the form of energy while high carbs and sugar is the root to many illness – obesity, diabetes, heart diseases and even cancer.

Nevertheless, we choose to combine our vegetarian with keto, which is term as Vegetarian Ketogenic diet. Because we know this is going to solve the potential problem of high carbs vegetarian meal and it’s like the best of both world!

What’s more we’ve discover?

In this exploration, we came to learn and understand how to adopt this simple vegetarian keto diet with just a shift in our eating habit. No more starving, no blended taste and no more boring meals. We’re enjoying variety of tasty meals, eating clean & healthy while protecting lives!

And when we first started, we noticed there’s a lot of people around us wants to start vegetarian style ketogenic diet but they don’t know where and how to get started. We often received questions on what types of foods that can be eaten, what ingredients to avoid or even how to cook a balance meal.

We realise how these information, especially for people who are new to this diet can be so useful. That’s why we started this site Veketorian, to share this healthy diet of vegetarian keto style in the form of recipes, grocery list, nutrition facts, meal plan & more to help anyone get started easily.

We never want to stop here, we want to help and aspires more people, people like you to integrate the power of vegetables and whole foods into your everyday meals, to improve your health more than the average non-vegetarian diet.

Furthermore, we are living on a beautiful sunny country call Singaporewhich has a strong food culture filled with large variety of Asia cuisine. Why not bring this amazing culture into our meal plan?

The recipes we’ll be sharing here is expanding from the usual vege-keto cooking style to a mixture of Asian fusion. So don’t be shocked to see tofu, curry and thai spices!

Vege-keto diet is not as boring as many people imagine. We are making it as fun as possible with understanding that you don’t require meats to fulfill your body nutrients. Plant-based, eggs & dairies is enough to have your nutrition well covered.
